Michael loved his surprise wedding anniversary gift of a private wine tour

Wendy and husband Michael were staying in Healesville to celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary and Wendy surprised Michael with a half day personalised winery tour of the Yarra Valley with us on Christmas Eve.

We collected them from their accommodation at 11am and took them straight to Innocent Bystander, Healesville’s famous ‘winery within the actual town’ for a wine tasting (on tap, ie pulled from copper taps like draft beer) which the pair were intrigued by.  We then hopped in the vehicle and drove the beautiful route over to Steels Creek to Greenstone Vineyard for a wine tasting.  It was such a hot day we opted to do the wine tasting inside, which is a shame as the view from the deck is staggering, but so was the heat!!

By now everyone was ready for lunch  which wasn’t far away, at Tokar Estate Winery, where the pair continued their celebrations with a wine tasting in order to choose which wine to enjoy over their two-course lunch.

After lunch we meandered over to Yering Station for a final wine tasting in their beautiful historic art gallery cum cellar door.

Clutching many bottles of wine from their day of tasting and buying, we then drove them back to their accommodation via the Strawberry Farm where they picked up some freshly picked strawberries to enjoy later.

They were off to Healesville Sanctuary the following day for Christmas Day Lunch and were looking forward to seeing the animals and enjoying the Spirits of the Sky bird show.

They really enjoyed the tour and found it very relaxing not having to work out where to go, book anything, drive, or try to map read to get there.
