Two lovely couples Mark & Stephanie and Calvin & Donna were up in the Yarra Valley to see the awesome Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde in concert at Rochford Winery, and rang on the Sunday to see if we could take them on a private wine tour. And by 11.30am we’d collected them from their gorgeous Healesville accommodation Graceburn Gardens and taken them to Four Pillars Gin Distillery to get their tour off to a cracking start with a gin tasting hotly followed by a gin cocktail chaser!
We then drove them up to Medhurst Wines for a wine tasting followed by some delicious platters for lunch and great wine, – the Chardonnay proving to be the winner.
Next we drove them up the fabulous long driveway to Helen & Joeys so they could meet Bruce the unicorn – and distressingly Barry and Beryl had disappeared and poor John did not dare ask, for fear of their reply!! Hopefully they are on holiday somewhere lovely or gone to visit some other unicorns and will be back soon. The group had a really lovely wine tasting enjoying the glorious weather out on the deck and of course hopped on Brucey for a quick photo opp!
So what do you try next if you’ve sampled the Yarra Valley’s award wining gin, and wines? Yarra Valley cider & beer of course – for which we headed to Meletos where the boys tucked into cider and beer tasting paddles and the girls enjoyed some more wine.
Wanting to show them yet more fabulous old buildings and great views, we drove down to Yering Station, to sample one of the Yarra Valley’s finest range of wines, for another wine tasting and tour of the buildings and cellar. We never cease to be amazed as we show people the Yarra Valley, how special our wine region is and how much there is to offer people, and all so close together. It’s quite remarkable really.
We finished their day’s touring with a wine tasting at Innocent Bystander where John left them to walk down to the Healesville Hotel later for dinner.
What great and full day they had, in fact what a huge weekend – rock concert Saturday, private Yarra Valley day tour Sunday. And Monday – sleep I hope!! If you’d like to combine a concert with a tour, check out the dates for concerts on Rochford Winery’s website, and once yo’ve bought your tickets, give us a call on 03 5962 5940 or email us here and we’ll work out a great day for you. We do concert transfers to and from Rochford too, so bear that in mind. 🙂
