Billie wanted to celebrate her 28th birthday with six of her work colleagues on a wine tour, so Joan put together a great half day private tour for them.
When you’re on a half day tour, time is tight, especially in this instance as the group had asked to be picked up in Preston, so Joan created an itinerary which included wineries a stone’s throw from each other, to minimise time spent on the bus and maximise time spent enjoying the wine! That’s one of the huge advantages of booking a half day private tour with us as we can create an itinerary that works just for you and your timings.
Joan collected the friends from Preston for their afternoon tour and drove them out to the Yarra Valley with them chattering none stop all the way, so it was a good job the first stop was at Tokar Estate for a wine tasting, followed by a sumptuous lunch washed down with a glass of wine!
The group had a super time catching up on gossip over lunch, and were grateful to be warm and dry inside Tokar’s dining room as outside it poured down with rain.
Their next stop was at the lovely historic winery St Huberts, for a wine tasting with Dom in their cellar door. Often groups will take their wine outside to enjoy under the magnificent oak trees, but not today, as it was a particularly cold and wet day. The friends had fun enjoying the Shiraz and loved the special prices that were available on half cases (6 bottles).
To finish off their afternoon a wine tasting had been arranged ‘over the road’ with Stephen Powell, Helen & Joey Estate’s very knowledgeable and fun cellar door hand. The group loved their tasting at this relatively new boutique cellar door and braved the terrible weather to have a quick ride on Bruce, the unicorn, in the rain.
Joan drove them back to Preston for 5.30pm and loved hearing the chatter, laughter and singing from the gang all the way back. They had clearly had a fun afternoon in the Valley, and we look forward to touring with them again when they have time to come back to visit some more of our Yarra Valley wineries.
