If you’ve never seen a steam train before and you’re visiting Australia from Singapore then a ride on Puffing Billy is going to be a bit special isn’t it? And it certainly was a highlight for Jasmine and Nishi, and their adorable children Yuuki and Kin who were staying at Yarra Valley Lodge. John collected them for a wonderful personalised day’s tour with us and made sure they got to see and do everything on their hit list.
They loved their trip from Belgrave to Emerald on Puffing Billy and get this – John even filmed them going over the trestle bridge with their legs dangling from the train but if we uploaded it, it would crash the internet the file is so huge – but he’s learning!! After a fun morning on the train they enjoyed a wine tasting at Tokar Estate and had lunch on the balcony, mesmerised by the stunning view all around them .
After lunch we set off for Healesville Sanctuary to meet some real native Aussie animals in the flesh and the kids got to pat the kangaroos and dingoes – it was very special.
After all that action, it was time for chocolate so where else would we head for, but the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie where chocolate was followed by an ice-cream would you believe! What a brilliant day out.
To round off a rather fabulous time together, John took the family to Yering Station to admire the buildings and gardens before heading back to their accommodation.
We managed to cram a lovely lot into the day for them and gave them a good taster of what life is like here in the Yarra Valley.
