Our international visitors from Singapore always love to pick fruit so when Annie, Desmond, Amanda and Darren (over from Singapore on holidays) contacted us about a tour we included fishing to catch their own lunch and a visit to a fruit orchard during their private Yarra Valley tour.
John picked them up in the CBD and drove them out through Healesville, where they stopped to get some chocolates and lollies from the Candy Emporium and enjoyed a little look around the pretty tourist town. Then they drove through the magnificent twisting turning road through the towering gums in the Black Spur to the Buxton Trout Farm. They all loved the fishing and Amanda caught the first fish so was thrilled.
After the fish were cleaned and filleted they set off to the Buxton Hotel for lunch – where their Trout was cooked beautifully and served to them (talk about fresh!) with chips and salad!!
After lunch they drove back through the spur to Boat O’Craigo, a lovely boutique winery just before Healesville town centre where Desmond bought a couple of bottles of red to enjoy later.
Then they drove over to Len Raynor’s Fruit Orchard in Woori Yallock for a ride through the fruit trees on the tractor to sample and learn about the huge number of fruit varietals Len grows there. The family picked some fruit, Amanda and Darren had a ride on the cherry picker – which was great fun and they purchased some peaches and nectarines to take back to the city.
Last stop was the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery where they loved sampling the chocolates and couldn’t resist buying some to enjoy later.
By the time John dropped them back to the CBD it was 6pm, and they’d all loved a great day in the Yarra Valley and loved visiting places that interested them, rather than doing a set itinerary decided by someone else.
