A trio of Mum and her two grown up sons who all now live in different countries, were after a personalised cider, beer, wine and cheese tasting tour of the Yarra Valley so we put together a fantastic itinerary for them.  John was their designated tour guide for the day and collected Josh, his Mum Sally (visiting from Oxford in England) and his brother Ben, (over from Italy).  He met them from the train at Lilydale Station in pouring rain, so what better way to start their tour than with a cider and beer tasting at Meletos.  They were understandably quite taken with the design, layout and age of all the buildings.  And Sally said she was used to the rain, being English, so it wasn’t a problem at all!

Their next stop was Domaine Chandon for a look around the impressive Riddling Room and to admire the vines and drink in the great view.  A short drive later and they were in Healesville at Innocent Bystander for a wine tasting and then it was time for lunch which they enjoyed at Tokar Estate with yet another wine tasting and a beautiful lunch.

Coldstream Hills was a big hit where they sampled and purchased some rich reds which we know they’ll enjoy together later.  And we saved the best to last with a visit to de Bortoli’s cellar door to hear about and taste their cheeses and wines before taking them back to the station for their trip back into the city.

Sally was visiting for three weeks and loving spending time with her sons and was clearly taken with their personalised tour of the Yarra Valley and they said they were used to the rain so it was okay!
