On Friday John picked up the lovely Garry and Elaine who were visiting from Brisbane and wanting a day tour of the Yarra Valley.  He collected them from their Yarra Glen Apartments and took them straight to Coombe Melba Estate where they loved the buildings, the old clock workings, memorabilia about Dame Nellie Melba and enjoyed Gordon’s knowledge of their estate wines.

Then we were off to Chandon for a tasting and found Martin’s presentation fun and enjoyable and finished off with viewing the grape production area and then to the Riddling Hall where they learnt how the sparkling is made.

By then they were in need of lunch so we took them to Tokar Estate Winery for a delightful 2 course lunch and wine tasting with owner Rita Tokar.

We saved the big boys til last and set off  after lunch to Coldstream Hills so Garry could taste their Pinots.  Then on to the creme de la creme – Yarra Yering – for more tasting of reds where Garry & Elaine were very impressed with the quality, texture and aroma.

We rounded off a fabulous day with a tour of Healesville town and decided on a delicious gelato from David at Gel Aperia.  As John dropped them back to their accommodation he asked them where they were off to next – answer, the Mornington Peninsula for more wine tastings.  We wonder what their verdict is?!
