We love to accommodate last minute requests for a Yarra Valley tour where possible, so when we got a phone call last Friday from the Healesville Visitor Information Centre for a couple looking for a private tour that afternoon, we were really happy to oblige.
And what a lovely couple they were, Angela and Marcin met in London and are now living in Singapore and loving the opportunities they get to travel from there as it’s so central to so many great travel destinations. Knowing they really like Rosé wines a visit to Dominique Portet’s cellar door was a must, and they enjoyed the tasting so much they bought a bottle of their sparkling Rosé to enjoy on New Years Eve. Love the cellar door staff member peeping through in the picture!
We then spent an hour up at Medhurst Wines where they loved the wines and enjoyed the tasting with the lovely Bidelia – and as it was the perfect afternoon to relax and enjoy the view, they enjoyed a bottle of their award winning Rosé with a platter of cheeses and olives – followed by coffee and a seriously amazing chocolate brownie!
We squeezed in a very quick wine tasting and a wander through the beautiful grounds at Yering Station before they closed, and then I dropped them off at the Healesville Hotel where they wanted to relax in the beer garden before meandering back to their motel.
They were a delightful couple and so appreciative that they got to do an afternoon’s tour of our wonderful region at short notice and we look forward to welcoming them back when they have more time as they could plainly see how much more there is to see and do in the Yarra Valley.
