‘There’s got to be something in it for everybody’ is a well known saying – and it’s so true. So when Melissa contacted us to say she and two friends would be visiting Melbourne from Sydney and would like to arrange a wine tour for themselves, while their husbands played golf at Kingston Heath Golf Club – we knew everyone was going to be happy. 🙂
John collected Melissa and friends from Quest Southbank Apartments and drove them out to Yering Station for their first wine tasting which they loved, being in its fabulous heritage cellar door/art gallery and such lovely grounds and views. Next, for something completely different, he showed them a modern cellar door and took them into the town of Healesville to Innocent Bystander for a wine tasting where all their wines are served ‘on tap’ and they really enjoyed that experience.
There was just time to fit in a visit to the Blueberry Farm before lunch, to try something unique to the Yarra Valley – that’s right, blueberry wine! The blueberry winery is also the cellar door for multi award-winning St Ronan’s Cider, so after a few tastings of these it was time to head on up to Soumah of the Yarra Valley for some great pizzas for lunch washed down with some lovely wine and of course their sensational view.
The group managed a final wine tasting at St Huberts winery, one of the Yarra Valley’s original and oldest wineries, and bought a couple of cases to tide them over, before heading off to the Chocolaterie for a chocolate fix before heading back to Melbourne’s CBD by 4pm, as they were all meeting up for dinner in the city.
Let’s hope the men had enjoyed their round of golf as much as the girls enjoyed their tour of the valley.
