Getting married? Grab your girlfriends for a half-day hen’s party wine tasting in the Yarra Valley
Wine tasting on a unicorn – as you do!
Jen contacted us wanting a half day wine tour with a group of girlfriends to celebrate one of their soon-to-be weddings. Some people were to be picked up in Melbourne CBD, and then others (including the all important ‘hen’) were to be collected en route, in Greensborough, and we still managed to fit in plenty of chatting, laughing, eating and wine tasting on their half day hen’s wine tour.
Once John had collected the whole gang, he drove them out to the Yarra Valley to St Hubert’s winery for their first wine tasting.
St Hubert’s is a great combination – it’s small and boutique, yet has some unusual varietals (Rousanne, a grape originally from the Rhone Valley region of France, and not often found in Australia) and some of the oldest vines planted in the valley back in 1966 – when the Yarra Valley started to grow vines again (all the vines had been replaced with other more lucrative agriculture during the 1920’s as a result of the Great Depression). Their staff are knowledgeable as well as being fun, they have a gorgeous location with giant oak trees within the grounds, and we are always given a warm welcome when we arrive.
Next pit stop was at Innocent Bystander, a winery in the centre of the town of Healesville, where the hen’s group enjoyed a wine tasting (served on tap),
before settling in for a superb lunch of wood fired pizzas and paella, washed down with sparkling and wine. The girls enjoyed the opportunity to have a really good chat and catch up, over a great meal.
After lunch John took the group to Helen & Joey’s winery for their final wine tasting – after all, what hen’s do in the Yarra Valley would be complete without a ride on a unicorn!!
Because the girls only had time for a half day wine tour, it was then time for John to drive them back to Melbourne where they were staying the night and looking forward to going out to dinner to continue their hen’s do celebrations.
If you’re looking for a fun hen’s day activity, get in touch and let’s discuss an itinerary for your friend/bride-to-be/hen – we love organising special occasion tours and always go that extra mile to ensure you feel spoilt and thoroughly looked after.
