This group were in Healesville for a weekend break and wanted a half day Yarra Valley wine tour, so Joan obliged and managed to fit in 6 wine and cider tastings as well as lunch and some scenic lookouts and historic buildings! Impressive in just 4 hours!!
She collected the three couples (Carmel & Manny, Melissa & Grant & Karen & Anthony) from their lovely accommodation at High Street House in Healesville at 11am – and took them straight to Chandon for a glass of sparkling for the girls to get the tour off to a good start and they enjoyed a wander around the building and Riddling Room.
Next up, they visited Stones of the Yarra Valley and Meletos for a wander and so the men could try a Yarra Valley cider while Joan took the girls off to look over The Farmhouse accommodation at Meletos with its stunning entrance and fireplace. The group were very impressed and also loved the superb vegetable garden.
By now it was definitely time to taste some wine so Joan took them to Maddens Rise for a tasting with the lovely Emma. As Karen and Anthony had just returned from an overseas
trip they chatted to Emma about Italy and enjoyed the Italian varieties she was offering for tasting. The group were all red wine lovers, so decided to only taste the reds.
Guest always love a visit to the iconic winery at Coldstream Hills for a tasting with Roland and enjoyed his wealth of information re wine and the area.
By this stage everyone was in need of lunch so two minutes later and they were at Medhurst Wines enjoying some sensational platters washed down with some red wine (of course) followed by coffee and 3 enormous cream vanilla slices!!
As the group were staying in Healesville Joan decided to take them for a quick look at the scenic lookout overlooking Maroondah Dam before their last stop, for a final tasting of Yarra Valley reds at Boat O’Craigo Winery where fortunately they all liked the same drop so purchased some to enjoy later.
Miraculously Joan had them back to their accommodation by 3pm where they were going to rest, watch the footy or go window shopping before heading up to Innocent Bystander later for some pizza and of course a tad more red wine!
It was a fun few hours enjoyed by all – and Carmel wisely took the opportunity to book Tour the Valley for her concert transfer on 1 October when she’s coming to see Elton John at A Day on the Green at Rochford Winery, so Joan’s looking forward to catching up
with her again then.
