Wedding Anniversary Private Half Day Yarra Valley Tour

To celebrate their 3rd Wedding  Anniversary, Sarah and Damien were staying at the gorgeous Matisse Cottage in Montrose (booked through Valley Ranges Getaway) and asked us to put together a half day tour of the Yarra Valley for them.  Hearing that Damien liked beer and Sarah preferred wine, we put together a great mix of Yarra Valley wine and ale tastings for them.

Joan took them first to Yering Station for a wine tasting and a walk around the restaurant and cellars, and then, because Damien isn't a fan of wine, she went on to Meletos so he could enjoy a cleansing ale and cider.

They enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Tokar Estate Winery with great food and wine and the roses were in full bloom and smelt heavenly - yellow is Sarah’s favourite colour and there were some beautiful yellow blooms (which we of course take all the credit for arranging).

After lunch we visited the lovely Emma at Maddens Rise, a tiny boutique winery and Sarah bought some Chardonnay to enjoy later.  And on our way to Boat O-Craigo we stopped in at Watts River Brewery in Healesville for a beer tasting for Damien who loved the casual, fun atmosphere there and all the information about the brewing process.  We called in at Maroondah Dam lookout too which is rather spectacular and on the way to Boat O’Craigo, which was our last tasting for the day.  Sarah loved their Sauvignon Blanc so again bought another bottle - for later!

Joan dropped them back to Montrose where they were looking forward to relaxing after a fun day out enjoying tasting some different local wines and beers.  Sarah and Damien had enjoyed the previous night visiting Sky High at Mt Dandenong and loved the view, and were ready now to just relax and enjoy the rest of their anniversary break.  A private half day tour is perfect like that as it doesn't take up your entire day and exhaust you, but you still get to fit in a good number of visits to places of interest to you - on this tour we visited 6 cellar doors for wine and beer tastings!
