Cruise Passengers Love to Tour the Yarra Valley

We get a number of tours from cruise liner passengers wanting to get out to the Yarra Valley and try some of our wines.  And it is do-able on a private tour, as we can be at the bottom of the gangplank waiting for you as you disembark and whisk you out to the Yarra Valley, show you all the places you want to see and still have you back in time to sail that night.

John collected Valerie, Kim, Jennifer and Maylen from Colorado Springs in America who had arrived on the cruise ship Carnival Solstice from Sydney on Monday morning.

They had spent a few days in Sydney and one in Melbourne before heading off to Tasmania and New Zealand.  And given they all enjoy good wine, they decided a personalised tour in the Yarra Valley was the way to go.

So our first stop was Chandon for a sparkling tasting and tour around the cellar door - they loved the gardens and the view over the vines and mountains in the background.

Then we took them to Meletos for a locally grown and made cider and beer and they had fun choosing which varieties to include in their tasting paddles.

And for something a little different, on the way to lunch at Tokar, John saw a friend who is the Manager of Cherryhill Orchards which has just been planted out opposite Maddens Lane and will one day be a u-pick orchard which is really exciting for Healesville.  And he was able to show our group the new cherry sorting and packing machine and they enjoyed tasting them and were lucky enough to be given a complimentary box to enjoy back on the ship.  Now THAT wouldn't happen on a public tour!!

The ladies thoroughly enjoyed their 2-course lunch at Tokar Estate after their wine tasting and chatted away whilst enjoying the roses, vines and great view from the restaurant.

After lunch we visited the wonderful boutique cellar door of Maddens Rise and found that Emma now has a new addition - a 9 day old gosling to keep Alfie - the 4 week old gosling company.  This was a special treat to see the tiny gosling and the lucky ladies even had a cuddle with him!

It was by then time to return them to their ship as they were sailing that night, and they had had a fun and interesting day in the Yarra Valley and loved the variety they were offered by Tour the Valley.

So if you're coming to Melbourne on a cruise ship and would like a personalised tour of the Yarra Valley - fill out our questionnaire and we'll get back to you with a quote and some suggested itineraries.  We can't guarantee a cuddle with a gosling, but we can guarantee a great day out in our spectacular wine region.
