Visiting the Wineries of the Warburton Highway

Who would have thought we could visit 6 wineries in a half day Yarra Valley tour!?!

Last Sat John did exactly that with Ellen and James who were staying in Yarra Junction. Being on that side of the valley, John mapped out a route so he could visit 6 fabulous and very different wineries all within their half day tour.  It included some Big Name Wineries as well as Boutique Small Producers and the couple loved all the wines they tried.

He collected them from their accommodation at 2pm and took them straight to Killara Estate Winery for a wine tasting knowing they would love the amazing view.  As the sun was shining the couple bought a bottle of wine and shared it on the deck, enjoying relaxing at a Yarra Valley winery.

Next stop was Morgan Vineyards in Seville, one of the valley's older wineries (46 years old) a gorgeous boutique winery with only 12 ares under vine, where they tasted all the varieties and purchased some to take home.  Then it was on to one of the area's best known players - Seville Estate - where they tried all 13 varieties of wine and again stocked up with some bottles to enjoy back home.

Paynes Rise high up on the hill was a big hit with Elen and James and they loved the old homestead as well as the wine!  And as Whispering Hills is on the same road and we literally pass it on the way out, John stopped in so they could have another tasting and enjoy the live music and watch the dancing.  It's a fabulous little winery, with a great atmosphere and top tip - if you're ever in need of AMAZING sourdough bread on the weekend, you now know where to head to!!

Last stop was Wild Cattle Creek Estate for a final wine tasting and then John made a quick stop on the way back to their accommodation so they could buy some nibbles and cheeses to enjoy with their wine that evening.

Elen and James loved their afternoon and couldn't believe that they visited 6 wineries in the space of just one afternoon and tried such fabulous wines.
