If you're a wine lover and you're visiting Australia from Canada, your milestone 50th birthday SHOULD be celebrated in style, on a Yarra Valley wine tour! And Hannah obviously agrees because she contacted us to put together a private wine tour for her family to celebrate her Mum Isla's 50th birthday on Saturday.
Nothing is too much trouble for us here at Tour the Valley so when Hannah asked if we could pick the up from Craigieburn, the answer was 'Of course!' - so John collected the group and drove them out to the Yarra Valley stopping first their first wine tasting at none other than Yering Station (talk about setting the bar high) where they loved the Chardonnay and the variety of reds.
Then they visited Meletos for cider and beer paddles, washed down with hot chips and cheese! They were very impressed with the tour John gave them of Stones and the beautiful old buildings - it really is an impressive group of buildings, with such heritage and views, lets not forget them!
Coldstream Hills had to be on the itinerary for wine lovers visiting our famous wine region, and their sparkling went down a treat as did their reds and the family enjoyed visiting a famous yet boutique winery. A sumptuous lunch and wine tasting followed at Tokar Estate Winery where everyone really enjoyed both lunch and wine and sensibly purchased some to enjoy later.
John included Innocent Bystander in their itinerary so they could experience a cellar door in town, because it is unusual and their wines are superb. And he hit the nail on the head, Hannah and her family loved their tasting, the sour dough bread and the atmosphere inside the building.
The finished their tour at none other than De Bortoli's for a delicious cheese and wine tasting which were so popular they couldn't resist buying both!!
A private wine tour with us here at Tour the Valley exploring the wines of the Yarra Valley was definitely a memorable way for Isla to celebrate her 50th birthday with husband Bill, daughter Hannah and the rest of the family. We wonder how they got on in NZ and what they thought of their wines?
