Shamistha works for nab in Melbourne's CBD and wanted something 'a bit different' for her work colleagues (Fiona, Charmaine, Lloyd and Mike) for their work Christmas breakup. So after a few discussions back and forth with John and Joan, they agreed on a fabulous personalised and private tour of the Yarra Valley for them, which ended up including fishing, playing pool and having a gin tasting!!
John collected the group from the city and to break the journey up to Buxton, they stopped in the pretty town of Healesville for some refreshments and then drove the stunning drive through the giant towering eucalypts on the Black Spur, arriving at Buxton Trout Farm around midday - just in time to catch their lunch.
Trout fishing was the name of the game and they all caught a fish for lunch with Fiona catching the first fish and Lloyd catching one eventually!!! John then took the cleaned fish up to the Buxton Hotel where they prepared chips and salad to serve with the groups' trout. As it had become a nice sunny day, lunch and drinks were enjoyed in the hotel's beer garden and everyone was rather impressed that they were eating their own catch for lunch.
Charmaine and Lloyd then couldn't help themselves and were drawn to the pool table where a very competitive game ensued - (it's OK what goes on tour stays on tour - we respectfully won't print the results). And that's the great thing about touring with us in your own private group - if you suddenly get the urge to play pool, you can - the day is yours and John was happy to indulge them. On a Tour the Valley Tour there's no driver looking harassed saying 'time to get back on the bus now I'm afraid' because it's your private tour - so you get to set the itinerary 🙂
After the pool championships, we headed back to Healesville to the Four Pillars Gin distillery for a gin tasting - where they all enjoyed the various gins on offer and learned about how the different gins are distilled. Their biggest problem was deciding which to purchase to take home - as they wanted to buy them all. Healesville has become quite a hotspot now for its microbreweries and award winning gin distillery.
John finally got them back to the city at the end of a fun-filled day, spent enjoying one another's company out of the office and in the beautiful Yarra Valley.
