Design your own Yarra Valley wine tour

Mery was delighted that she got to create her very own Yarra Valley wine tour with us on ANZAC Day.  She and her partner Mularo are from Udine in northern Italy and she explained she was doing a wine appreciation course and had already visited a number of wine regions in Australia and wanted to further her understanding of Yarra Valley wines. So we created their tour specifically around the wines she was most interested in.

After collecting them from their accommodation, we took them first to Yering Station for a tasting and knowing they would love the architecture too, which they of course did. Chandon was looking particularly beautiful with its driveway full of turning autumn leaves and the vines a brilliant rainbow of colours too.  And being a sparkling fan, Mularo was a happy man when he got to do a tasting of their sparkling range. At Coldstream Hills both our guests were happy, with Mery enjoying the heavier reds and Mularo loved their sparkling so they bought one of each for later!!

We had a very enjoyable lunch at Rochford followed by another tasting, of course, and Mery managed to find another red to buy!  We saved the best til last and after lunch drove them back up to Yarra Yering where they had an excellent tasting and learned all about Dr Bailey Carrodus and how significant he was to the Yarra Valley and how special the terroir is there. As it was such a beautiful sunny autumn day we made Medhurst our final stop for tea and cake where Mery and Mularo enjoyed relaxing on the deck with the view.

Even the drive back to De'Vine Escape in Dixons Creek where they were staying, was beautiful – and we all agreed that we do live in a stunning region, surrounded by mountains, vines and best of all, all that wine!!
