Cheese, Wine, Cider & Gin out in the Yarra Valley Sunshine

Nothing beats a wine tour where you meet new people and all get on and have a fun day out together.  And that's what happened when Joan took two lovely couples out on tour at the weekend - Josh and Maddy who were staying at Yarra Valley Lodge - and Anthea and Carwyn - who were staying at Oscars Best Western in Warburton.  Carwyn had previously toured with us about 18 months ago for a friend's 30th Birthday, so was back for more!

Damien gave them a great wine tasting in the barrel room at Innocent Bystander where they tasted single vineyard wines from the Yarra Valley and noticed the difference in the years of the same variety.

At our gin tasting at Four Pillars Gin we were lucky enough to have the great gin maker himself, Cam McKenzie, take us through all the varieties of gin.  The process and all the spices and fruit that go into the gin production was just fascinating and they loved his story about the Christmas pudding gin!!!!

We squeezed in another wine tasting at Tokar Estate before enjoying a delicious lunch and then nipped over the road to Chandon for a sparkling tasting and the group sat out and enjoyed that special view, over a cheese platter and a glass of their new sparkling with orange on ice out on the deck in the sun!

When they could tear themselves away, we drove down to Coldstream Brewery for a coffee cocktail washed down with a cider of course.  And there was awesome loud music and they were all in a party mood by then and getting on so well they ditched Joan and decided to stay on there for some food and would make their own way back to the accommodation later.

Now THAT'S what we call a successful day's touring.  Lovely fun times with lovely new people in the lovely Yarra Valley!
